Boundary County Idaho Resolution 2008-23

A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE BOUNDARY COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.

WHEREAS: In the wake of public discontent concerning the inability of the Boundary County Comprehensive Plan, adopted May 26, 1998, and subsequent land use ordinances to adequately control growth, Boundary County Commissioners did, on October 5, 2005, direct the Planning and Zoning Commission to conduct review of the Boundary County Comprehensive Plan; and

WHEREAS: The Boundary County Planning and Zoning Commission, taking input from all interested citizens who availed themselves the opportunity to participate in the review, did determine that the existing Comprehensive Plan, due to changing land use patterns, is no longer adequate to suit the best interests of the citizens of Boundary County, and

WHEREAS: The Boundary County Planning and Zoning Commission, in a cooperative effort with those interested citizens, did conduct a thorough review of Boundary County as established at Title 67, Chapter 65, Idaho Code, and did develop a Comprehensive Plan that better reflects the wishes of the citizens of Boundary County as regards land use, and

WHEREAS: Following public hearing, the Planning and Zoning Commission did forward said plan to County Commissioners with a recommendation of approval, and

WHEREAS: Boundary County Commissioners thoroughly reviewed that plan and made amendments and alterations so as to assure that the plan is based on valid and verifiable data and that the objectives of the plan may better reflect the intent of all citizens and property owners of Boundary County, and

WHEREAS: The proposed amendments were subject to public hearing and, in cooperation with the Boundary County Planning and Zoning Commission, Boundary County Commissioners did further refine the draft so as to render a document to guide future land use policy more nearly reflective of the will of the people of Boundary County and more useful in its application, and

WHEREAS: Boundary County Commissioners, on July 7, 2008, did hold final public hearing and accept all comment and critique from those citizens interested, and

WHEREAS: Boundary County Commissioners, by majority vote, consider that the Boundary County Comprehensive Plan and Comprehensive Plan Map as presented represents the finest balance possible between disparate and diverse public opinions as to county government’s objective in establishing land use regulation to serve the best interests of the citizens and property owners of Boundary County;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the members of the Board of Commissioners of the County of Boundary, Idaho, that the Comprehensive Plan, including the Comprehensive Plan Map, so diligently crafted by and in the best interests of the citizens of Boundary County, is hereby adopted to serve as the guiding document for future land use planning by the government of Boundary County, Idaho, and that zoning and subdivision ordinances be drafted so as to best realize the objectives set forth therein.
